After multiple meetings with department Directors, consideration of requests, and extensive review and analysis Jackson Town Manager Larry Pardee released his recommended Fiscal Year ‘22 budget to Town Council. This recommended budget includes $33-million in program expenditures, restoring funding for programs and Capital projects.
Core program services account for 66% of the proposed budget including nearly 150 full-time equivalent employees who provide services: first responders, snowplow operators, parks and recreation staff, and utility crews. Positions that were frozen due to COVID are restored in this budget including a Long-Range planner, a Snowplow Driver, a Community Service Officer focused on code enforcement, and others.
This budget also recommends new positions including a Mental Health Advocate to work with the Police Department, an IT administrator shared across the IT and PD departments, and an Assistant Attorney. The Town Manager also recommends a new Ecosystem Stewardship Administrator and a Transportation leader to be shared with the County. Next steps will include numerous public meetings to analyze and discuss the recommended budget.
