Residents of Cheyenne will soon have an alternative means of transportation to Denver and points south. Amtrak has said it is willing to participate in a partnership to provide and operate passenger rail service along the Front Range from Cheyenne to Pueblo, Colorado.
Amtrak President Stephen Gardner told the Longmont, Colorado Times-Call that the 215-mile corridor is ready to support passenger rail service. The potential Front Range corridor service would be part of Amtrak’s goal of expanding passenger services across the country and providing service to up to 160 communities currently not on company’s routes.
Amtrak is currently negotiating with Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railway whose tracks run through the Pueblo to Cheyenne corridor.
