It was a close call at a residence in Dubois Thursday night. The Dubois Fire Dept. was dispatched shortly after 5:00 pm to a report of a vehicle fire which was threatening a structure. Fire unit’s arrived quickly and found a fire in the cargo area of a pickup truck. The fire had been partially extinguished by the owner using a fire extinguisher, and Dubois firefighters pulled an attack line to fully extinguish the fire before it could spread further. Firefighters say the fire started in the bed of the truck in a pile of oily rags, probably due to spontaneous combustion. Damage was estimated at $5000 – primarily to the truck.
