With election day less than a week away, we find ourselves bombarded with predictions from political analysts, exit polls, and forecasts from political pundits; but here in Jackson Hole, we have The Barber Poll. Now while it may not be all that scientific, it tends to be almost as reliable as anything else to determine who will make the cut. Looking first to the national contest the local poll shows Joe Biden potentially parting Donald Trump from the White House 87 to 64. Cynthia Lummis clipped Merav Ben-David 75 to 66, and Liz Cheney styled over Lynnette Grey Bull 80 to 67. In the Teton County Commissioner race Peter Long is in the lead by a head with 61 votes, Wes Gardner comes in with a close 52 votes, Natalia Macker following with 49 votes, and Greg Epstein coming in with a trim 47 votes. Christian Beckwith’s cut of the votes was 32.
It was a close shave in the Mayoral votes with Michale Kudar getting 68 votes to Hailey Morton Levinson’s 66. In the race for council Jim Rooks brushed by Devon Viehman 81 to 72 votes while Jessica Chambers trimmed out the top three with 45 votes. Pete Muldoon garnered 28 votes. With regard to the additional penny tax, the measure ended up with the sweepings, 87 against and 63 in favor.
