Turn in your moss balls for cash prize

Aquarium owners who turn in moss balls could be eligible for $1,200. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, in collaboration with Wyoming Trout Unlimited and other sponsors, is launching a month-long moss ball take-back program to help stop the potential spread of zebra mussels.
Live zebra mussels were discovered on moss balls for the first time in Wyoming in March. The aquarium plant was sold in many pet stores. To return a moss ball, it should be taken out of the aquarium and put in a closed, plastic bag or container.
Moss balls can then be dropped off to one of the Game and Fish offices located around Wyoming. Infected moss balls should NOT be otherwise discarded without first killing the mussels in boiling water, bleach or other approved methods. Infected aquarium water likewise should not be poured down the drain, but sterilized with bleach for at least ten minutes after the fish are removed, and only then pour the contents down the drain.
Aquarium accessories should also be cleaned before returning the aquarium to operation. Anyone who returns a moss ball to Wyoming Game and Fish can scan a QR code at the drop-off site to enter into a raffle to win $1,200. The raffle closes May 15th.
