Two Grizzly Attacks Reported

Two more grizzly bear/human incidents have been reported by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.  Currently, Game and Fish is assisting the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with investigations involving conflicts between archery hunters and grizzly bears in two separate incidents. On the evening of September 24th, a man who was archery hunting elk in the Thorofare area of the Teton Wilderness was attacked and injured by a grizzly bear. He was airlifted to a local hospital where he received treatment. The bear was killed in the incident. In a second incident on Saturday, Sept. 26th, a grizzly bear charged an archery hunter on Rattlesnake Mountain west of Cody. The hunter was not injured, and the bear was killed in that incident as well.  Because grizzly bears are currently listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, Game and Fish coordinates extensively with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on grizzly bear conflicts. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is leading both of the ongoing investigations.
USFW  recently warned public lands users to watch for an injured grizzly in the area is between Big Sky and West Yellowstone, Montana. The bear was wounded on September 14th through an encounter with two hunters at the head of Eldridge Creek.
