Two-Vehicle Crash on US-26 Near Irwin, Idaho, Injures Four, Closes Highway

May 25, 2025 by Jackson Hole Radio

Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred at 2:38 p.m. on May 24, 2025, on eastbound U.S. Highway 26 at milepost 386 near Irwin in Bonneville County. A 46-year-old man from Farmington, Utah, driving a 2020 black GMC Yukon westbound, crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound semi-truck. The semi-truck’s driver, a 44-year-old man from Idaho Falls, along with his passengers—a 52-year-old woman from Idaho Falls and a juvenile—sustained minor injuries. All were wearing seat belts. The Yukon’s driver, also wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured and airlifted to a local hospital.

The crash closed U.S. Highway 26 for three hours, with cleanup crews still working to clear the road. ISP, assisted by the Swan Valley Fire Department and Idaho Transportation Department, continues to investigate the cause of the Yukon’s lane crossing. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and check for updates on road conditions. For further details, contact ISP or visit isp.idaho.gov
