UPDATE: Boulder Lake Fire Prompts Evacuations In Sublette County 820 PM Saturday

A fire reported about 1:00 pm today has forced the evacuation of residents and campers in Sublette County near Boulder Lake. Boulder Lake Estates is currently under evacuation orders. In addition, Boulder Lake, Burnt Lake, and Meadow Lake campgrounds, Timico trailhead, and dispersed campers are also being evacuated. Anyone camping or recreating in the area have been told to leave the area immediately. Multiple resources including engines from Sublette County, BLM, and Forest Service, as well as one Type 3 helicopter from Teton Interagency Fire, are actively engaged in fighting this fire. Two Small Engine Air Tankers are now over the fire to aid in control efforts. Sgt. Travis Bingham of teh Sublette County Sheriff’s Office says a Type 3 fire team has been ordered to take over the fire. The Tannerite Fire is burning on BLM land between Burnt and Boulder lakes near the elk feedground.  Bingham says the fire was started by people shooting at exploding targets. An evacuation shelter has been set up at the LDS church in Pinedale for Fire evacuee’s whose evacuated home was their primary home. The Pinedale Town Animal shelter is also now open in Pinedale for animals that have been evacuated from the fire area.

Due to an active fire in the Boulder lake area please avoid Boulder Lake, Meadow Lake and Burnt Lake. Campers in the area are being evacuated for their safety.

-Boulder Lake Estates
