The US Forest Service Intermountain Region is seeking public feedback on a proposed list of deferred maintenance projects under consideration for Great American Outdoors Act funding in fiscal year 2022. The Forest Service projects aim to address the agency’s $5.2-billion deferred maintenance backlog and improve public access and quality of visitor experience through repair and restoration of facilities. Locally, those projects include the Jackson Fire Engine Bay Replacement Project to construct a replacement fire engine facility on the Jackson supervisor’s office site. The project includes removing the old fire cache facility. Parking Lot Repairs are being considered at the Blackrock Ranger District office. The site also serves as a helitack base. Greys River Road & Recreation Improvements are also planned involving 22 miles of road surfacing, replacing 2 spring water systems with wells at two rental cabins, complete rental cabin repairs at 4 cabins, replace kiosk and move an interpretive site to a snowmobile trailhead, and replacing picnic tables and fire rings at campground. The Upper Green River Corridor Road Improvement would involve the completion of planning and design of the 20-mile Green River corridor road resurfacing project, and Green River Recreation Site for execution in fiscal years 2022 and 2023.
