Homicide suspect Jeremy Best made his initial court appearance this morning before Magistrate Judge Jason Walker. Where he was officially charged with two counts of Murder in the First Degree in connection with the deaths of his wife Kali Randall Best and their unborn child in Victor on Thursday.
Judge Walker ordered a competency hearing for Best and scheduled his next court hearing for December 18th.
In Idaho, Murder in the First Degree is punishable by 10 years to life imprisonment and may be punishable by death penalty.
On Thursday just before midnight, authorities received a 911 call from a residence in Victor when law enforcement responded they found 38-year-old Robbins dead from an apparent homicide. She was 28-weeks pregnant.
The couple’s 10-month-old son Zeke was missing from the home.
Teton County Sheriff’s Department issued an Amber Alert and the search to find Best and his son began.
The search for Best and his son ended just after nine Saturday morning when a group of hunters came across Best who was in a sleeping bag on the side of Kepps Crossing Road, southeast of Idaho Falls.
Deputies located Best’s SUV down an embankment and also located the body of Zeke Best.
It had been reported by East Idaho News dot com that Best had been encountered earlier in the day on Thursday at a store in Swan Valley naked and making odd statements.
Best was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance for mental health concerns but was discharged later Thursday afternoon.
Best remains in the Bonneville County Jail with no bond.
