Yellowstone visitations during October decreased markedly from the same month last year. According to the National Park Service monthly report, Yellowstone hosted 170,038 visits, down 22% from October 2018. Park officials say due to snow throughout the month, some entrance stations and park roads were temporarily closed, and these closures likely contributed to the decrease in visitation. So far in 2019, the park has hosted just under 4-million visits, which is down 2.5% from the same period last year. Currently, most of the park roads are closed for the season, but will reopen to over-snow vehicles when the 2019-2020 winter season begins December 15th. Statistics from neighboring Grand Teton National Park for October are not yet available.
