As the snow in the area continues to get deeper, Wyoming Game and Fish officials are asking residents in the Jackson and Wilson areas to be aware and show patience with moose and other wildlife that are showing up in developed areas and along roads. Wildlife officials say due to the amount of snow the area has received, moose and other wildlife are regularly using the plowed roads and groomed trails in the area, as it is the path of least resistance for them at this point. Additionally, the Jackson Game and Fish office has received numerous calls from concerned residents about moose and other wildlife in neighborhoods, prompting officials to offer advice on how to avoid problems with these animals. They are asking residents to be wary and exhibit patience whenever encountering wildlife. While the animals normally don’t pose a threat to anyone as long as they are given their space, residents should not to approach them and need to control their pets around them. Similarly, Game and Fish officials are also asking area motorists to be wary about their presence on or near roads, especially in low-light conditions after dark, and exhibit patience to avoid collisions with the wildlife.
