An unidentified snowmobiler died in an avalanche in the Salt River Range Saturday despite his airbag deploying in the incident. At this time, little information about the incident is available including the exact location of the incident. Officials will only say the individual was 30 years old. Volunteers from Star Valley Search and Rescue responded and made the recovery of the deceased individual. Meanwhile, a skier on Teton Pass was partially buried in a slide there Saturday. Avalanche forecasters caution that snow that fell during the past week lies on persistent weak layers. The weight of a single person can trigger a slab avalanche on steep avalanche-prone terrain.
