The Memorial Day weekend has passed with no Old West Days parade and celebration and no gatherings to honor those lost in service to their country – activities that usually mark the holiday weekend in Jackson. Now the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce is meeting with organizers to determine how to mark Independence Day in a little over a month. Chamber Director of Special Events Maureen Murphy says an option that is currently under consideration is going ahead with the fireworks display in a manner that will have the crowds enjoy them from their cars. However, no final plans have been made. Murphy also says the other common activities including the street breakfast and the parade are still in discussion, but not off the table yet.
