State and local fire officials have released their findings regarding the cause of a fire July 12ththat destroyed the White Pine Ski Lodge in Sublette County.
According to their report, the fire was caused by a propane leak associated with one of the furnaces which found an ignition source in the lodge. Fire crews contained the fire to the lodge building and monitored the surrounding areas to ensure the fire didn’t spread to the surrounding forest or buildings.
The investigation was a multiagency effort involving local, state and insurance agency investigators.
Plans are to rebuild the main lodge building in the year ahead. In the meantime, resort CEO Alan Blackburn and General Manager Katie Lane stated that the lifts at White Pine were undamaged and will operate this winter, although the skiers will have to purchase day passes from a temporary dwelling.
