White Pine Ski Resort employees were notified last week that their last day of employment would be March 31st. Alan and Robyn Blackburn, majority owners of Citizens to Save White Pine LLC (which owns the assets of White Pine Ski Area and Resort) announced in a news release that they have decided to put the resort up for sale. The Blackburn’s were delighted when the year to last May 31st produced a 19% increase in revenue, an operating profit, plus improved overall financial performance, but then in July a devastating fire leveled the resorts ski lodge. No lives were lost and the lifts were not affected which has meant the 2019/2020 ski season was able to continue. The cost of replacing the lodge combined with Alan Blackburn’s current health prompted the couple to make the decision to put the resort up for sale. This year marked the 80th year of operation for the resort. The resort has been managed by Katie and Bryan Lane.
