Wildfire season is in full swing in the West with wildland fires already claiming over 5 million acres this year to date.
Currently 51 large fires are burning in the 13 western states scorching over a million and a half acres and requiring more than 8000 firefighters to manage them.
Five large new fires were reported this weekend.
Hot and dry weather continue to create the potential for new fire starts throughout the Western United States.
Only two small fires are burning in Wyoming currently. The Sugarloaf Fire has burned 500 acres in the Medicine Bow National Forest and is 19 percent contained, and crews are patrolling the Gem Lake Fire which is completely contained after burning 21 acres in the Bighorn National Forest.
