The Jackson Police Department has started leaving yellow reminder notifications on the windshields of cars parked overnight on Town streets. Beginning Sunday, November 1st winter parking restrictions will take effect prohibiting parking in the public right of way to facilitate snow removal and winter street maintenance operations. Those restrictions are in effect from 3:00 am until 7:00 am every night from November 1stthrough April 15th, regardless of weather conditions. Cars left on town streets between 3:00 am and 7:00 am will be ticketed and may be towed. If a car has been towed, it can be retrieved by contacting Ron’s Towing and paying the fine. The public works department explains that snow can only efficiently and cost effectively be cleared at night from lots and streets that are cleared of vehicles. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead if they are headed out for an evening of festivities. Meanwhile, overnight parking is permitted in the parking garage structure located at Simpson and Milward for up to 48 hours at a time.
