A wolf, believed to be from the Huckleberry Pack in northern Grand Teton National Park was struck and killed around 5:30 pm Saturday by a motorist driving in the the Grand View Point Area on the North Park Road.
Park Spokesperson Denise Germann says the wolf was a seven-year-old female. There was no immediate information on the reporting party nor the driver responsible for the incident.
According to the Code of Federal Regulations, a motor vehicle operator is required to report an accident involving property damage, personal injury, or death—which includes the injury or death of wildlife.
According to the park, vehicles take a significant toll on park wildlife, resulting in the deaths of well over 100 animals per year.
