A 67-year-old woman died Tuesday on the Snake River while on a guided fishing trip when the drift boat she was in hit an eddy, tipped over and took on water. According to Teton County Search and Rescue, the boat swamped, and its three occupants ended up in the river about 3.5 miles upstream from the South Park boat ramp. The call for a river rescue came in shortly after noon and members of the Teton County Sheriff’s Department and Search and Rescue responded, but were unable resuscitate the victim despite efforts already under way. Further details about the incident, including the victim’s identity, are not immediately available.
