The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and Ames Construction are finalizing two significant road projects in Teton County just in time for the Fourth of July holiday. These projects, the WYO 22 and WYO 390 Snake River Bridge and the WYO 22 Teton Pass Big Fill Slide, aim to improve safety and traffic flow in the Jackson area.WYO 22 and WYO 390 Snake River Bridge
Crews are putting the finishing touches on the new bridge deck and intersection, with the project set to open to traffic in its final, striped configuration by the evening of June 30th. WYDOT resident engineer Bob Hammond noted that this milestone marks the project as substantially complete and on schedule. The fully opened bridge and intersection will accommodate holiday weekend traffic, ensuring smoother travel for residents and visitors. However, starting Monday, July 7th, crews will return to apply an epoxy overlay to protect the bridge deck. This work will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction, potentially causing delays and reduced speeds for approximately one week. Hammond emphasized that opening all lanes for the holiday was a priority, and the overlay will nearly complete the project.WYO 22 Teton Pass Big Fill Slide
The Teton Pass on WYO 22 at mile marker 12.6 reopened to traffic at 6 a.m. on June 30th after intensive weekend work to pave the permanent roadway. The project, addressing the Big Fill Slide, is nearly complete, with paving, striping, and main guardrail installation finished. On the evening of June 30th, crews will reduce traffic to one alternating lane after the evening commute to finalize guardrail terminal work. Drivers should expect delays of up to 10 minutes and watch for roadside flaggers. This work is expected to conclude in one night. Some minor tasks, such as seeding, reclamation, and punch list items, remain, but Hammond stated the project is essentially wrapped up. Unpredictable weather or other factors may cause schedule changes, and WYDOT is committed to keeping the public informed.
