The Wyoming Department of Transportation has assured that the shutdown of the federal government is not expected to have any immediate effect on the WYDOT’s operations. Spokesman J.L. O’Brien says WYDOT will use its borrowing authority to make sure that construction contractors get paid for the work they are doing on Wyoming’s highways. O’Brien says all WYDOT operations will continue normally, and no closures other than regularly scheduled closures for the New Year’s Day holiday are planned. The department will be open for regular business and hours through this week and on Monday, December 31st. Meanwhile, while WYDOT offices will be closed New Year’s Day, the Wyoming Highway Patrol, WHP dispatch and WYDOT maintenance crews will still be working to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
