Wyoming Attorney General Bridget Hill has issued warnings against COVID-19 scams that have been making their way around the state. Hill says the Consumer Protection Unit is actively monitoring Wyoming’s marketplace for unlawful attempts to exploit the COVID-19 public health emergency. Typically, she says, they do not identify the targets of the investigations or recipients of their demand letters, but they are taking formal action to address unlawful business practices related to COVID-19, including unfair price increases of essential goods and false marketing of coronavirus cures. To learn more about COVID-19 related scams, consumers should consult the alert and tip sheet issued by the Consumer Protection Unit. Furthermore, she urges consumers who observe such scams in Wyoming’s marketplace to report them by calling 307-777-6397, or emailing ag.consumer@wyo.gov.
