As many as a dozen wildfires are burning across California, triggering statewide evacuations, school closures and power shutdowns; and certainly, making national headlines. Across the West, a multitude of entities are pitching in to battle the infernos, such as a Montana-based fire aviation company, approximately 300 ground personnel from Oregon, and even fire departments from Nebraska. Other states providing assistance include Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. Wyoming State Forester Bill Crapser says at this time, he is unaware of any state or county resources that have been deployed to California, but they are definitely on the call list and doubtless will be called up before the fires are controlled. None of the resources from Teton Interagency Fire have been called to California as yet either.
