You won’t be able to post your latest dance moves on TikTok if you’re using a State of Wyoming Smartphone.
Governor Mark Gordon on Thursday enacted a ban on the popular social media app on all state electronic devices and networks because of cybersecurity concerns
TikTok is owned by a Chinese company that may be subject to potential influence of foreign governments.Gordon told all state employees to permanently remove TikTok from all state-issued cell phones, laptops, tablets, desktop computers and other information technology equipment capable of internet connectivity.
Governor Gordon said that maintaining robust cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and the potential for foreign governments to access information collected by TikTok is extremely troubling.
Wyoming joins at least 12 other states that have banned TikTok from state devices.
