The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will hold a regular meeting in Cheyenne beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019. The SBE will first convene as the State Board of Vocational Education (SBVE) to hear an update from the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) on the State Perkins Plan, as well as approve state reports.
After adjourning the SBVE, the SBE will convene and hear reports from board coordinator Dr. Thomas Sachse on the legislative session and an update on the “Basket of Goods” survey. The WDE will update the SBE on the committee for the Certified Personnel Evaluation System and give an update on the district and school leadership evaluation survey. The WDE will also report on the Statewide System of Support guidebook, biennium budget process for 2021-22, and accreditation for the Wyoming Cowboy Challenge Academy.
On Thursday, Chris Bessonette, a second-grade teacher at Munger Mountain Elementary in Jackson who was recently honored as a Milken Educator Award winner, will present to the SBE about his work in the classroom.
The SBE will take action on policies of governance on public participation at SBE meetings and board communications, an early learning resolution, meeting dates and locations for 2019-20 meetings, officer elections, and accreditation for the Wyoming Cowboy Challenge Academy.
