Yellowstone National Park’s annual bear report indicates that 2018 bear/human incidents were down in comparison with previous years. Despite 1,627 bear sightings during the year, the park reports there were only eight conflicts with park visitors. On the other hand, the attraction of bears along the roadsides in the park generated some 240 “bear jams” snarling traffic. Park officials add that as bears become more used to the throngs of people, the number of those traffic problems are likely to rise.
