Yellowstone National Park has just experienced its busiest September on record. According to a report from the park there were 837,499 recreation visits last month. This is a 21% increase from September 2019. So far in 2020, the park has hosted 3,383,872 recreation visits, which is down only 11% from the same period last year. The park was closed due to health and safety reasons related to COVID-19 beginning March 24th. Two Wyoming entrances opened on May 18th, and three Montana entrances opened on June 1st. All five entrances have been open since June 1st. The East, South and West entrances to the park will close for the summer season November 4th.
