Warmer temperatures and low humidity have led to the Lone Star Fire in Yellowstone National Park to gradually increase in size, while still not threatening the Old Faithful area. Fire officials say the acreage involved has increased from 3,348 acres to 3.914 acres now, mostly due to spot fires, creeping and smoldering. While currently open, the Grand Loop Road between Old Faithful and West Thumb could close if smoke or fire impede the movement of traffic or the road becomes unsafe to drive. However, many of the trails and campsites around Shoshone Lake and Lone Star Geyser are closed.
