Yellowstone National Park is getting ready to capture some grizzly bears.
In an effort to monitor the population of grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, The National Park Service is working with the U.S. Geological Survey to bait and capture bears inside the park boundaries.
Biologists with the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team will begin field captures on Aug. 9 and continue through Oct. 28
Biologists will bait the bears using fresh road-killed deer and elk.
Visitors should be on the lookout for bright warning signs and steer clear of the capture sites. The monitoring of bear populations is required under the Endangered Species Act.
