This is the last week roads throughout Yellowstone National Park will be open to over-snow travel. Roads in the park will begin to close March 7th, segment by segment beginning from Mammoth Hot Springs to Norris, with the final segment closing March 15th at 9:00 pm.
Warming huts will close accordingly. Plowing of those roads is to begin as each segment closes. Weather-permitting, some park roads will reopen to automobile travel April 16th.
The South Entrance road will be the last to close. Visitors driving to and in the park during the spring should have flexible travel plans and prepare for changing weather conditions.
Temporary travel restrictions or closures can occur at any time. Meanwhile, the hotel, cabins, gift shop, ski shop and food services at Mammoth closed yesterday.
The campground, general store post office, medical clinic and self-service gas pumps remain open there year around.
At Old Faithful, the Bear Den Gift Shop and Geyser Grill will close March 15th. Park road conditions are posted online.
