Not unlike Grand Teton National Park which one week ago reported August visitation was higher than during 2019, Yellowstone National Park is now also reporting an increase last month over the same month in 2019. According to their report, the park hosted 881,543 recreational visits in August 2020; a 7 ½% increase from August 2019. And as in Grand Teton, that figure is the second highest historically just behind 2017. So far in 2020, the park has hosted 2,546,373 recreational visits, down 18% from the same period last year despite the park being closed due to health and safety reasons from March 24th until its gradual reopening beginning May 18th. The entrance stations will close up the beginning of November until the winter season begins in December. Meanwhile, accommodations and facilities around the park have already begun to close for the season.
