
Yellowstone National Park has marked the most visited August on record. During the last month, the park hosted 921,844 recreation visits which is a 4.5% increase from August 2020 when the park saw 881,829 recreational visits, and surpassed previous record August in 2017 when there were 916,166 recreational visits.
So far in 2021, the park has hosted 3,590,904 recreational visits, which is an increase of 40% from the same period last year and up 15% from 2019, the last normal year before the pandemic. That is also above the park’s busiest year in 2016 when 3,269,024 recreational visitors had come to the park by the end of August.
