Yellowstone Visits Dip

Visitation to Yellowstone National Park in September decreased from previous years, according to statistics released by the park this week. The monthly report indicates 693,118 visitors passed through the entrance stations during the month for a 4.3% decline in visitation from the previous year. However, only the Septembers in 2016 and 2018 had more than this year. Year-to-date, visitation to the nation’s first park has also declined by 1.4% with total visitations currently at slightly more than 3.8-million. 2016 experienced the highest visitation by September with 3,970,778. Most park roads and facilities will be closed by the end of this month with winter visitation set to begin mid-December. September statistics for Grand Teton National Park were not immediately available.
