The fire danger rating for Yellowstone National Park has been reduced to LOW due to recent precipitation. Snow measured since the weekend at Canyon totals ten inches with varying amount reported elsewhere in the park. As such, there are no fire restrictions currently in place. Still, campfires are only permitted within fire rings in campgrounds and at some backcountry campsites and any campfires must be cold to the touch before abandoning them. Park officials say the Lone Star Fire is the last remaining active fire in the park, with isolated smoldering pockets of heat.
