Yellowstone National Park has announced plans to burn slash piles near the park’s northeast entrance through the month of October. As such, park officials say park visitors can expect to see smoke there until the end of the month. The project is the last step of the “Firewise” project where staff has removed vegetation around buildings in order to reduce the potential threat to them from wildfire. To the south, slash piles area also to be burned beginning this week on the Pinedale and Big Piney Ranger Districts of Bridger Teton National Forest in a variety of locations.
