The bollards are coming back.
The Jackson Town Council voted yesterday to re-install the bike lane bollards on Willow Street for the upcoming season.
The white PVC pipes that have lined the street on Snow King Avenue for several years were expanded to Willow Street last summer. Not everyone liked the idea then and several people spoke against re-installing them this year.
Some local businesspeople spoke up about their concerns over the loss of parking as a result of making Willow a bicycle route.
Supporters of the route praised its utility in providing a safer bike connection in town.
The council voted unanimously in favor of the Willow Street bollards.
As part of the overall discussion, they also vote to change the intersection of Snow King and Willow to an all-way stop.
The council also approved a plan to continue the use of Parklets in Jackson. The installations utilize on street parking spaces for expanded outdoor restaurant seating. They are a remnant of the COVID-19 pandemic but have continued to be used since then.
Restaurants will have to pay the Town to use the spaces, with the Town Council recommending a 4000 per year fee.
