Rohypnol or ‘Roofie’ is a drug commonly used in date rape case in America. Now law enforcement officials have confirmed that the drug, or others like GHB or Ketamine have been used to spike drinks of patrons in local Teton County bars.

Several Incidents of Date Rape Drugs

Jackson Police Department Detective John Ware said that several incidents have been reported involving a perpetrator spiking patrons’ drinks with date rape drugs at Jackson Hole bars. These incidents have occurred in recent weeks and are under active investigation by detectives in Jackson’s Police Department.

The United States Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health says that date rape drugs can be put into a drink without your knowledge and make someone less able to defend themselves against unwanted sexual contact, or even unable to remember what happened.

Exercise Vigilance While Out on the Town

Police said that bar patrons must exercise vigilance when out drinking. They say to not drink from cans or bottles you do not open yourself or see a bartender open. They also remind bar-goers to not leave their drinks unattended.

If you think you have been a victim of a similar incident or have information about an incident, please contact the Jackson Police Department at 307-733-1430 and ask to speak with Detective John Ware.

Stay Safe While Enjoying the Nightlife
