Following a slump of six losses in their last seven games, the Jackson Giants made a remarkable comeback with a stellar all-around display against the Green River Knights in their doubleheader last night. In the opening game, the Giants secured an 11-0 victory, led by Tate Wiley’s exceptional one-hitter and complete game. Noteworthy performances also came from Hammond, Witt, and Fisher, each contributing with 2 RBIs.
The Giants’ impressive pitching and hitting carried over into the second game, resulting in an 18-3 triumph over the Knights. Warren Newton earned the win on the mound pitching three innings and allowing six, with Brandon Witt closing the action with a two inning shutout. The Giant’s also shined through their base running, with over 10 stolen bases, however the real excitement unfolded at the plate.
The Giants connected with the ball 12 times, including a solo home run by Trace Kostial in the top of the third inning, and an impressive 3 RBI performance from Braxton Hammond and Lucas Gralund. With many positive takeaways, the Giants aim to maintain their momentum as they prepare for a doubleheader against the Laramie Rangers at Jackson Giants Stadium next Wednesday.
