Phone scam targeting Jackson residents

The Jackson Police Department has been made aware of a potential scam operation that is currently taking place in Jackson, starting at approximately 8:30 am on Friday. The scammer is calling individuals around the community from a number which spoofed to appear to be the Jackson Police Department’s main phone line: 733-1430.
The caller has been posing as a Jackson Police Officer and informing individuals that they have been issued a subpoena. The scammer then instructs the individuals to obtain a money order to resolve the issue.
Of course, no Jackson Police Officer would ever instruct anyone to obtain a money order to resolve any sort of ticket, subpoena or other legally issued document. Any resident who has or knows anyone who has received a phone call from what appears to be a Jackson Police Officer and have concerns of the caller’s legitimacy please call and report it to the Town of Jackson’s Police Department at 733-1430 or the Teton County Dispatch Center’s non-emergency number at 733-2331.
