A Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service in Riverton from Monday evening through Wednesday evening.
Heavy snow and blowing snow is possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches could occur in the lower elevations.
In the mountains the Storm Watch says to expect 16 to 24 inches. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph in the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains and Jackson Hole.
The heaviest snow is expected late Tuesday night through Wednesday
evening.
Travel could be very difficult especially over Togwotee and Teton Passes. Snow and blowing snow will severely limit visibility at times especially in the mountains as well as north of Jackson to Moran Junction.
Backcountry enthusiasts including snowmobilers can easily become disoriented and lost. Frostbite and hypothermia can set in quickly. Please monitor the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center at https://bridgertetonavalanchecenter.org, if your plans include travel into the backcountry.
