The Wyoming Transportation Commission has recently approved contracts totaling over $74.8 million to enhance and maintain infrastructure across the state. This funding will support eight different construction projects, improving roads, bridges, and highways in several counties, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for residents and visitors alike.
The largest contract, worth more than $26.6 million, was awarded to Cheyenne-based Simon Contractors. This substantial project involves replacing a bridge and upgrading approximately 11.25 miles of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Pine Bluffs in Laramie County. Scheduled for completion by November 30, 2026, the work includes concrete paving, structure enhancements, asphalt paving, grading, traffic control, and stormwater drainage.
Another significant project, led by Sundance-based Croell Inc., received nearly $17.3 million to rehabilitate a bridge and improve about 9.09 miles of Interstate 25 between Casper and Kaycee in Johnson County. This project, expected to conclude by October 31, 2026, encompasses a variety of tasks such as asphalt paving, grading, chip seal, and erosion control.
Cheyenne’s JTL Group Inc., doing business as Knife River, secured a nearly $12.2 million contract for milling, overlay, and ADA upgrades on roughly 2.01 miles of US Highway 287 & US Highway 30 in Laramie. The project, due by October 31, 2025, will involve extensive asphalt paving, sidewalk improvements, curb and gutter work, and concrete paving.
Other projects include a $9.8 million effort by Lovell-based Mountain Construction Company on Wyoming Highway 296/Chief Joseph Highway in Park County, and several smaller projects handled by Worland-based McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co. and Cheyenne-based Reiman Corp. These projects are critical for maintaining the infrastructure and safety of Wyoming’s roadways.
All projects funded this November draw primarily from federal dollars and were awarded following the competitive bidding process, typical for Wyoming Department of Transportation projects.
