Snowmobiler Rescued Saturday on Togwotee Pass
A 78-year-old man who had been snowmobiling on Togwotee Pass about a mile southwest of Togwotee Mountain Lodge became the subject of a multi-agency rescue Saturday when he lost control of his snow machine and plummeted down a steep 40-foot embankment from the trail. Teton County Search and RescuePresident Tim Ciocarlan says a call for the search and rescue helicopter was cancelled when a search and rescue team member who was in Buffalo Valley responded with personnel from Togwotee Mountain Guides, Grand Teton National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS and through coordinated efforts, raised the victim back to the trail with ropes and a litter. The unidentified man was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Medical Center for treatment of a back injury. No other details of the incident were immediately available.
