Suspicious Mail Investigated

Mailbox

The Jackson Police Department and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS yesterday responded to a residence in the Indian Trails subdivision to investigate a suspicious package containing an unknown powder. The recipient of the package reported the item was unexpectedly delivered to their residence via commercial carrier and the sender was unknown to the recipient. The Regional Emergency Response Team responded with hazmat specific equipment. However, upon examining the package it was determined that no chemical, biological, or explosive threat existed. At no time was there a threat to the public or the neighborhood and no evacuations were ordered. The Police Department continues its investigation into the source of the package and why it was mailed to the recipient.
