With the passing of Labor Day Weekend, facilities in the national parks here will begin to close down for the winter. In Grand Teton National park, the Jenny Lake Ranger Station closed September 1stand the Flagg Ranch Visitor Center closed September 2nd. The Jenny Lake Visitor Center and the Lawrence S. Rockefeller Preserve will close September 21st, Colter Bay Visitor Center will close October 7thand the Craig Thomas Visitor Center will close October 31st.
Campgrounds have also begun closing beginning with Lizard Creek September second. On September 29th, the Colter Bay Campground and Jenny Lake campgrounds will close with the Flagg Ranch Campground closing a day later. Gros Ventre Campground closes October 11thand Signal Mountain Campground two days later.
The Teton Park Road, Moose-Wilson Road and Signal Mountain Summit road close for the winter on October 31st. Lodging will close beginning the first of October.
Seven of Yellowstone’s 10 popular campgrounds will close beginning the middle of this month with the remaining three closing between mid-October and the first week of November.
Check online for closing dates at the lodges and visitor centers. Winter season in Yellowstone typically begins mid-December.
