Grizzly Chalange in Supreme Court

November 14, 2013 Grand Teton National Park, State of Wyoming, Teton County No Comments
Court1

The Wyoming Supreme Court is to hear oral arguments November 21st in a lawsuit seeking to obtain Governor Matt Mead’s documents regarding the delisting grizzly bears as an endangered species. Wilson Resident Robert Aland filed the lawsuit against Mead and Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director in conjunction with protests against the November 2012 killing of a grizzly bear within Grand Teton National Park by elk hunters. In conjunction with that effort, he has attempted to obtain copies of a letter issued May 24th in 2012 from Mead to former Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar asking Salazar to work with Mead to expedite the analysis of continued listing of the grizzly as an endangered species. Aland maintains that the public has a right to know the deliberations and influences that go into a government decision.

The Wyoming Cowboys open up their football season at home against Montana tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in Laramie.  It’s the first meeting between the two schools since 1997, and the Grizzlies enter the game as the fifth-ranked team in the FCS. On defense, the Cowboys top priority is to stop the run.  With a talented quarterback […]
  • Warmer Temperatures With Isolated Thunderstorms Expected Today - August 29, 2014
A weak ridge of high pressure will build over the region today, which will allow temperatures to become warmer and closer to average statewide.  However, some lingering low-level moisture and daytime heating could trigger a few hit or miss thunderstorms for the afternoon and early evening hours.  Gusty winds and lots of lightning will be […]
