If you drive through Rock Springs, it is generally known that it is illegal to talk on your cell phone when driving.  That could become the case in Jackson before long as well.  Jackson Mayor Mark Barron says the imposition of such an ordinance will be a topic of discussion by the town leaders Monday. Barron says it is not an uncommon ordinance for towns to be considering now.  He says when people are driving a car or a truck, it is one of the most important responsibilities we can have and we shouldn’t be doing things to distract ourselves.  Barron says, “It doesn’t take much to realize how many people in Jackson – myself included – are driving along with a cell phone to our ears; and something has to give before someone gets seriously hurt.  Barron says the council discussed the situation a couple months ago and directed the town staff to prepare information for the council to consider.  Barron says such an ordinance would prohibit the use of any hand-held electronic device while driving or bicycling within the town.  If passed, the ordinance would place the additional restrictions to the state law already prohibiting texting while driving.

Monday night, or more accurately early Tuesday morning, there was a total lunar eclipse. And being the experienced nature photographer I am, you’d think I was ready with my camera. But you’d be wrong. The last total lunar eclipse visible in Wyoming was way back in 2009, if I’m not mistaken. So I’ve been looking […]

  • Back to normal at the trap range - April 17, 2014
By some strange luck, I shot really well last week in our trap league. But last night, I didn’t do so well. Not even close. The thing about shooting trap is that you’re bound to have good rounds once in a while. Those good nights give you hope that you’re improving. For some people, that […]
