Fire Officials Plan Community Meetings Monday
The Fontenelle Fire, 17 miles west of Big Piney, Wyoming, was estimated to have grown to 45,009 acres by Sunday morning and continued to burn in heavy dead timber as well as areas of grass and sage in lower elevations. Fire Information Officer Brandon Hampton says the fire continued its growth to the northeast and crossed Fish Creek and established itself on the southern end of Fish Creek Mountain. Hampton says currently 427 people are working the fire. The crews are now constructing fire line along the southwestern flank of the fire and continue to protect structures along the Middle Piney road up to the Middle Piney summer homes and three Forest Service guard stations. The current Incident Command Team will conduct public meetings in Pinedale and Marbleton tomorrow evening but the exact time and location are yet to be determined.
