Passenger traffic at Jackson Hole Airport again experienced a poor showing in December owing to the effects of the COVID pandemic. According to the monthly report to the airport board, enplanements sagged by 18% and deplanements dropped by 22%. For the entire year of 2020, air travel into and out of Jackson Hole was down 38%. However, at the same time TSA reported that, across 440 airports nationwide, there was a 60.7% drop in passenger numbers. Altogether, 278,445 arrived in Jackson Hole by air during 2020 and 284,433 flew out. Air service was down for the year as well with 19% fewer flights in and out of the valley. That service is ramping up now with December seeing a 20% increase in take-offs and landings. Currently, Jackson Hole is served by five major airlines and two commuter airlines providing service to 15 destinations.
