Jackson Town Councilman Jim Stanford says that because the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce has weighed in on the discussion of housing mitigation rates on behalf of their members, the public funding they receive from the Travel and Tourism board should be reconsidered.
At a Monday town council meeting, Stanford seemed to suggest that because the Chamber may disagree with him about the mitigation rates, which may be a topic for a State Legislative action removing the local authority, the town should deny funding to the Chamber which is used to operate the Visitor’s Center and other visitor’s services.
The public funding is not used to fund the operations of the Chamber.
Stanford attacked the Chamber for “providing misleading information” at a legislative committee meeting where local businesses gave input on how housing mitigation rates were not workable.
